The Wichita Kennel Club will be hosting a microchip clinic for dogs on Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 1-4 p.m. It is open to any dog, as long as they can stand still for chipping, for only $20 per dog. (Cash or check only – no credit cards.)
Microchips help reunite pets with their owners if the pet ever gets lost. The microchip can be scanned at a vet clinic or shelter for a unique ID number and the owners can be contacted.
The Kennel Club has been offering these microchip clinics for about 10 years, and in that time have microchipped more than 1500 dogs! Their goal is to provide the service at or near cost so that everyone can afford it.
What makes this a really good deal, according to the Kennel Club, is that it’s a lifetime registration, rather than something you have to renew annually.
The chips will be implanted by a licensed veterinarian and your pet will be enrolled for life in the AKC Reunite database.
Pre-registration is necessary for the microchip clinic. To register, email [email protected] listing your name, number of dogs to be microchipped, and your preferred time between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. There is no limit on how many dogs you can have chipped.
The low-cost microchipping event will be held at the Wichita Kennel Club building, 3448 N. Emporia in Wichita. For more information on the clinic, and for FAQs about micro-chipping, visit the Wichita Kennel Club website here or ask on their Facebook Event Page.
