I can’t think of a better way to start the Fall season than looking at gardens and garden trains. On Saturday, September 16, the Wichita Area Garden Railway Society (WAGRS) is hosting their 20th annual WAGRS Garden Railway Tour from 10am-5pm. There will be 6 garden railways in the Wichita area to visit. This includes Botanica’s Gene Spear Garden Railway. Admission to Botanica for you and your immediate family will be free on Sept. 16 if you present the tour guide to the front desk. Tour guides can be found at local garden centers or hobby shops. There will also be a portable “live” steam model train layout on display at Watson Park near the concession building. While at Watson Park, you can also ride on their miniature train for $3. This is a family-friendly event. However, not all venues are wheelchair accessible.
According to the WAGRS Facebook event page, this is a FREE event but donations are always welcome. In addition, since these are outdoor venues and this is Kansas, if the weather looks questionable check the event page link above for any cancellations or rescheduling of events.
