The Wichita Art Museum will have a Final Friday Farewell to its exhibit, The Artist Project: Wichita Artists in Their Studios, which has been on display in two of the museum’s galleries since March. The exhibit was related to the 2016 book Wichita Artists in Their Studios and featured a selection of art from the WAM vaults that was curated by the artists.
The resulting mix in the galleries showcases masterpieces and hidden gems as well as the complex relationship between artist and imagination, museum and creativity crucible.
At the Final Friday event, Wichita artists will talk about what inspired them to make their selections. WAM also will screen film shorts from a series of the same name, The Artist Project, created by The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Participating Wichita artists selected their favorites for the evening’s screening.
Admission is free. The evening will include a cash bar and live music.
