Exploration Place will be hosting a free eclipse party in Wichita on August 21, 2017 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will be held outside in the plaza. (The outdoor event is free. If you do want to go inside to the exhibits or the dome theater, regular admission applies.)
Be part of this rare event – a total solar eclipse! In Wichita, the Earth will plunge into 90% darkness as the Moon travels between it and the Sun. In the Festival Plaza, safely view the solar eclipse using special glasses (provided to the first 1000 guests) or solar telescopes.
Plus enjoy fun activities! Find out exactly how and why solar and lunar eclipses occur, investigate the effects of gravity in the universe as you use orbiting objects, get the up-to-date number of exoplanets scientists have discovered, and take a look at some spectacular images from SOHO – NASA’s Solar and Heliospheric Observatory.
In addition to the viewing party, they’ll have educational displays set up.
The eclipse-viewing party will happen on the plaza outside of Exploration Place. You can come and go any time during the event.
