The annual Derby BBQ Festival in Derby’s High Park will be lots of fun! It’s this weekend, June 10 & 11!
The annual festival is a family friendly event with live music, food, kids activities. And admission is FREE.

The festival, presented by Rock Regional Hospital, will be held at High Park, 2801 James Street in Derby, Kansas.

There’s a full slate of activities at this year’s event with the return of the People’s Choice Tasting Contest and Kids Corner activities. (No carnival this year though.) Here’s what’s happening each day…

Friday, June 10
6 to 10 p.m.
- Creekstone Farms People’s Choice Tasting Contest
- Buy a $5 tasting kit to try six two-ounce samples of competition pulled pork *yum emoji*
- Live music by the Silver Bullet Band, a country rock band out of Kansas City
- 7-10 p.m. on the Security 1st Title Mainstage at High Park
- Derby Recreation Commission Toss Like a Boss cornhole tournament

Saturday, June 11
During the day, they’ll hold the Creekstone Farms Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) Cook-off for professional teams and the Scholfield Honda Backyard BBQ Cook-off for aspiring pitmasters.
They’ll also hold the Creekstone Farms Steak Cook-off Association (SCA) Steak Contest. (Wait, where do I get a sample kit for that???) Professional teams AND the public are encouraged to compete in the Steak Cookoff. SCA membership is not required. Learn more and register at DerbyBBQ.com Deadline for team registration is May 20.

- Activities include inflatables, princesses, face painting, Beauties & Beasts Animal Rescue, and more
11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

- 80s Night Big Hair Contest sponsored by The Butcher Shop Salon. Get there by 7 p.m. with your hair teased and hair sprayed. Judging will take place at 8 p.m. The winner will receive a prize package from The Butcher Shop Salon and bragging rights.
7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Live music by Paramount, and 80s cover band from Salina
Enter High Park using the James St. entrance. On-site parking will be available in the paved lots and grass parking will be available during the day on Saturday (accessible from Madison Ave.). An ADA parking will be available just north of the Zimmerman Family Shelter; look for signage when you arrive at the park.
Proceeds from this event benefit the McConnell Air Force Base Airman and Family Readiness Center. The City of Derby has donated $16,000 of proceeds from this event to the center over the last 10 years.
