It’s time to pull out your red, white and green. May 5 is Cinco de Mayo and we’ve found a few specials you can take advantage of to have your very own fiesta here in Wichita.

Although it’s traditionally a Mexican holiday, Americans have been known to join in the celebration, often by eating Mexican food and drinking margaritas or Mexican beer.

2022 Cinco de Mayo celebrations and deals in Wichita, KS
Open Streets ICT – NoMar is happening the weekend before Cinco de Mayo. NoMar is short for North Market and is the location of a wonderful marketplace known for its great cultural offerings. On Sunday, May 1, from noon until 4 p.m. they’ll close the street to cars and open it up for walking, bicycling, and even dancing! Be a part of this fun and FREE community building event. Sedgwick County Zoo will host a fun Cinco de Mayo event that’s included with regular zoo admission (and free for members). On Sunday, May 1, from noon until 6 p.m., they’ll have a fiesta with exhibitors, athentic Mexican food vendors, and live music on the main stage! Info here
La Hacienda Tacos and Tequila is celebrating Cinco de Mayo with margarita specials, prizes, live music and giveaways from Thursday, May 5 through Saturday, May 7. More info

On the Border $25 Cinco in a Bag Order This seems like a good deal: For $25, get 10 delicious seasoned ground beef tacos and a large bowl of queso. Every bag comes with Mexican rice, refried beans, chips and salsa. While supplies last each bag will receive fun swag and On The Border branded cups. You can pre-order your $25 Cinco in a bag for pick up on Tuesday, May 5th.

Margarita’s Cantina is hosting a Cinco de Mayo party on Wednesday, May 5. They’ll have music, dancing, drink specials and food. Live music from Steve Downy will start at 5 p.m. and DJ Carbon will spin danceable tunes from 9 p.m. to midnight. 3109 E. Douglas in Wichita.
Chicken N Pickle in Wichita will celebrate May 5 this year with some Cinco de Mayo specials. They’ll have $3 street tacos and a couple of specialty margaritas available from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. And it looks like Wednesday night is Trivia Night (from 7-9 p.m.) so that will be fun too!
Little Busters Sports Bar is celebrating with $3 margaritas and Cinco de Mayo-appropriate beer brands all day on May 5, 2021.
Spangles always has the 99-cent margarita, so if Wednesday doesn’t work out for you, you can celebrate the 5th of May whenever you want to.
Tacos and Tequila – And if you really don’t mind deferred celebration, you could celebrate on the 15th of May at the Wichita Boathouse. The event is free and open to the public, but you have the option of purchasing a $20 Tequila Tasting ticket, which includes 7 different samples and tequila experts talking about brands. The free festivities look fun: DJ & karaoke (just don’t do karaoke after your sampling – this is the age of video recorders on every human, lol), cultural art and live mariachi music, and a chihuahua costume contest, along with booze and taco trucks. The event is from 2:30-9:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2021.
