At first I thought I couldn’t be reading it right: On the Border restaurant is offering two menu items along with rice and beans and its signature free chips and salsa in a new $5 combo meal!
I saw the ad for it on Facebook. And I still almost didn’t believe it.
But then there it was on their website in black and white:
“For a limited time only, our popular Create-Your-Own Combo 2 is just FIVE BUCKS! Start by picking any two items from our special menu, like hand-rolled enchiladas filled with seasoned ground beef or chicken tinga topped with your choice of freshly made sauces. Plus tacos, empanadas, soup and more. Then add rice, beans and all the warm chips and fresh salsa you want, and you’ve got the perfect meal, custom built just for you.”
There’s only one catch that I can see: You have to ask for it!
“Present this offer to your server when ordering and ask for the special $5 two-item combo.”
The $5 price is good for any two-item combo except the Dos XX Fish Tacos and Cheese Chile Relleno. (You can still have them; there’ll just be an upcharge.) That’s a total of 150 possible combinations! Of course, the offer doesn’t include tax or a tip, and any beverages you order will be extra, at regular menu prices.
The On the Border $5 combo special will be available at participating locations through April 8.
