Free Admission for Military to Rolling Hills Wildlife Zoo on Armed Forces Day
Active-duty and retired members of the military and their families will receive free admission to Rolling Hills Wildlife Zoo in Salina on Saturday, May 19, 2012 in thanks for their service. The scheduled activities include Keeper Talks throughout the day, bounce houses for the kids, and souvenir photos. The zoo will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Blue Star Museums: Free Admission for Military Members and Their Families
This Memorial Day, the Blue Star Museums program opens again for the summer. Blue Star Museums offer free museum admission to all active duty military personnel and their families from May 28, through September 3, 2012.
Wichita has several participating museums, but this can also be a great way to enjoy museums when you go on vacation. For a complete list of participating museums, go to www.arts.gov/bluestarmuseums and click on the map.

Book-A-Holic Bag Sale this Weekend in Wichita
The Book-A-Holic Bag Sale, aka Bookaholic Warehouse Sale, runs through this weekend at the Central and West location (only).
On Thursday, May 17, buy a bag of books for $10; on Friday, May 18, a bag of books is just $7; Saturday, May 19, the bag of books is $5; and on Sunday, May 20, the bag of books is only $3.

These days, you don’t even have to wait until you get your book to start cashing in the discounts. After I purchased mine, I had immediate access to printable coupons for places like those listed above, along with nearly every museum in town, bowling, mini-golf, and arcades, and a lot of family restaurants.
There’s also a new digital version that’s on sale this week for $19.99. I can’t tell, though, whether it has all the same coupons as the print book, so I’m sticking with the book this time. Grilling Season – 20 lb. Propane Refills for $6 and Grill Giveaway
This is grilling weather already, but some of us need to restock our supplies before we can take full advantage of it.
Right before Memorial Day Weekend, the Wayman Oil Company in Mulvane is bringing back their really, really great deal on propane refills. Bring in a 20 lb. propane tank Wednesday, May 23 through Friday, May 25, 2012 and get it refilled for $6. No kidding. And this is a real deal – my family brought in all of our tanks last year at this time and we were good to grill all summer.
What if you need a grill? The Kansas Pork Association is very close to reaching 3000 fans on Facebook and they want to celebrate by giving away another grill.

- Towanda Citywide Garage Sale Friday, May 18 and Saturday, May 19 beginning at 7 a.m. On Friday morning, stop downtown to buy cinnamon rolls from the Methodist church and at lunch time pick up a Monterrey. Saturday morning, there will be a pancake feed beginning at 7 a.m. You won’t need a map — just let the garage sale signs be your guide.
- Argonia Citywide Garage Sale Saturday, May 19, 2012 The sale coincides with Argonia Days so not only will you find good garage sale bargains, you’ll find plenty of small-town family fun.
