Sam’s Club Black Friday and Membership Deals

Sam’s Club will have free breakfast and free Starbucks coffee while you shop on Friday morning, November 23, 2012, beginning at 7 a.m. There’s also going to be a special deal on membership. CORRECTION: Two commenters pointed out that the $40 gift card is for Sam’s PLUS memberships (according to the Black Friday ad online). I am checking to see if there is any gift card offer on regular memberships and I will post what I find out here. UPDATE: The gift card offers are only $40 gift card for new Sam’s Plus membership or $25 gift card for an upgrade of existing membership to Sam’s PLUS membership.

Membership/Upgrade Incentive: Shoppers who join Sam’s Club during the Black Friday Savings Event, starting Nov. 23 and continuing through Nov. 25, will receive a gift card valued up to $40 to use immediately or to stuff a stocking for the holidays. Current members who upgrade to Plus membership will receive a $25 gift card. Gift of membership is available, offering family, friends, college students, teachers and everyone on your list the gift of savings for an entire year. SOURCE: Press release

Sam’s Club online Black Friday sales begin at 10 p.m. on WEDNESDAY. It appears that several of the Black Friday deals will also be online. To get a preview of the deals, visit the Sam’s Club Website.

Never miss a deal:

Isn’t this gift card only available if you sign up for a PLUS membership? That membership is about $100. Or are they giving these gift cards out on the basic memberships, too?

    • Carolyn says

It says that people who join (i.e. new membership) receive a $40 gift card. Current members who upgrade to Plus receive a $25 gift card.

  2. Jera Jdai says

Page 3 of their online Black Friday ad states this is for Plus Membership, doesn’t say anything about regular membership. What’s the source for your “Membership/Upgrade Incentive” quote? I really hope this extends to regular membership too.

    • Carolyn says

The source of the quote is a press release, but Angie is right. It says UP TO a $40 gift card, and you’re right that the ad says the $40 is for the PLUS membership (which is $100). I’m sorry for the mistake — and I’m extremely disappointed because I was going to take advantage of the deal. (I still might, if there is a $10 gift card in it.) :(

  3. Angie says

It says UP TO a $40 gift card. In the past that has been for the Plus Membership and they give a $10 card for a regular membership. So, definitely not free.

    • Carolyn says

Agh. You’re right! It says UP TO. :( I am so disappointed, because I was definitely going to get the membership because we let ours lapse this year. (A $10 card is fine, it just isn’t nearly as good as $40, and I don’t need the PLUS membership.)

    • Carolyn says

Hmm… I don’t know, Bob, but I wouldn’t do it. Maybe Santa Claus will bring you a membership. :)

  4. RG says

I went to the Sam’s Club on North Rock Road this afternoon after seeing your original post. It was explained to me the actual deal with the Plus membership and the gift cards. However, apparently this weekend only, one can also get the regular Advantage membership, free, with no additional gift card perk. They just don’t advertise it in the ad. I called to doublecheck, and, well, didn’t have to spend $40 like I thought I’d have to. FWIW.

    • Carolyn says

Wow. Are you serious? That would be a great deal. I hope I have time to head down there tomorrow to check it out!

      • RG says

I can doublecheck again, if you like. :) Didn’t buy anything today, but was able to get my membership card and wander around the store.

        • Carolyn says

I called them to ask and they told me they only have the Plus membership deal. Maybe they did that special for you. Things like that do happen sometimes!
