The Kansas Humane Society has partnered with the Wichita Public Library to make a place where children in grades 1-5 who have difficulty reading will have an opportunity to read aloud to a supportive, non-judgmental listener: a registered therapy dog.
Your child will spend about 20 minutes reading to a furry friend, then spend the remainder of the 90-minute session working on educational arts and crafts projects.
Enrollment is required, and a $3 donation is requested per class, per child. All proceeds made to the Kansas Humane Society benefit the animals in their care. Visit the KHS website here to begin the enrollment process.
