Free Lunch Friday for National Bike to Work Day

Air up your tires and bike to work – and to a free lunch in downtown Wichita. Friday, May 18, 2012 is National Bike to Work Day. Celebrate with a free Jimmy John’s lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Old Town Plaza in Wichita. Wichita Ribfest 2012

Wichita Ribfest 2012 Parking lot D in downtown Wichita is already being prepared with tents and award-winning “ribbers” are showing up for the Wichita Ribfest this weekend.

The Wichita Ribfest will feature six different award-winning BBQ masters from around the country and live concerts from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, May 17 -19, 2012.

Regular admission for the event is $4 for adults and free for children 12 and under, but you can get in free with a River Festival button, which are already on sale at Quik Trip and Dillons. Or opt for 1/2 price admission Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (The concerts are free with admission, but the ribs will cost something.)

There will also be a children’s play area, VIP tent, and beer garden. The Mel Hambleton ‘American Idle’ competition is on Thursday.

You won’t find half-price shakes at Sonic during Sonic Happy Hour (2-4 p.m.), but ice cream shakes seem more like a night-time treat to me anyway.
