Wichitans only have a short drive to make for free wine tastings, a tour of a working winery, and a nice spot for a picnic.

Grace Hill Winery in Whitewater is about 25 minutes north of downtown Wichita and offers free wine tastings and winery tours Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. with no appointment necessary. (Beginning in May and continuing through summer, the winery also has tastings from noon to 5 p.m. on Fridays.)

“Upon arriving at the winery, visitors receive free samples of our entire wine lineup, followed by a tour of the vineyard, winery, and cellar to see how the wines are made,” said Jeff Sollo, marketing manager for Grace Hill. “Guests are also welcome to bring their own food, which they can enjoy at our indoor or outdoor picnic areas, both of which overlook the vineyard.”

Throughout February, Grace Hill is having a Sweetheart Sweet Wine Sale in the tasting room. During the sale, bottles of Seyval, Prairie Pink, and Holiday Spirit are on sale for $10, and Eclipse, a Moscato style dessert wine, costs just $12.

Three of Grace Hill’s wines just won “Best in Class” at the Best of Kansas Wine Competition. Check out the Grace Hill website and Facebook page for information, events, pictures and videos.
