The Kansas African American Museum will host the “We Are Family” Reunion this Labor Day weekend in Wichita. The event will include a parade, ice cream social, community talent show, vendor booths, and educational workshops that will help you get started documenting your family tree, along with other events.
The reunion will be held at the Keeper of the Plains Plaza at 755 W. Central in Wichita on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Events during that time are free. The parade kicks off the day’s activities at 9 a.m.
At 11 a.m., you can enjoy all-you-can-eat pancakes at “Praise and Pancakes,” a pancake feed and musical celebration featuring area church choirs and families.
Later that evening, at 7 p.m., Sly and the Family Stone will perform. Tickets for the concert are $10.
On Friday night, August 31, Rudy Love, Sr. and Rudy Love, Jr. will both perform at A White Linen Affair, which includes dinner and dancing. Tickets for the White Linen Affair are only $25.
