Father’s Day and graduations are always especially hard to buy for in my experience. (Dads have everything they need and new grads need everything.)
If you’re going to go the gift card route, you might want to buy your gift cards at Dillons, because you’ll get 4x the usual number of fuel points on your purchases. (That can save you money on gas for your Memorial Weekend travel.) You don’t have to buy gift cards to Dillons (although who wouldn’t be able to use that?); they sell gift cards for a variety of popular retail stores and restaurants. The promotion is valid from May 23 to June 19, 2012.
Here’s how the fuel points work: When you shop at Dillons and use your Dillons card, you’ll get one fuel point for every dollar you spend (except when there’s a promotion like this one). Once you’ve accumulated 100 points, you get 10¢ off each gallon of gas at Dillons or Kwik Shop gas stations. With 200 points, you get 20¢ off per gallon. And so on up to $1 off per gallon of gas.
