This is one Earth Day Freebie you get to give. Get your hands dirty this Earth Day by helping to keep our river clean. (Actually, you’ll wear gloves, so no manicures need be harmed by this activity!)
On Saturday, April 21, 2012, give a little of your time to make a big impact at the 2012 Wichita River Trash Roundup. Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. in the southeast corner of the Lawrence-Dumont parking lot to receive gloves and trash bags. (I’ve also heard that there may be a free t-shirt.) Wear long pants and sturdy shoes that you won’t mind getting dirty. If you’re a canoer or kayaker, you’ll also get to spend a little time on the water.
Last year, volunteers picked up 2.57 tons of trash!
