Voted Best Antique Mall in the Midwest, Paramount Antique Mall on west Kellogg has about an acre of antique furniture, art, dinnerware, home decor items and almost any other vintage item you can think of. Walking into the building sends an instant shot of adrenaline into the shopping center of my brain and makes me dream of my rooms looking like pages out of Better Homes and Gardens or Cottage Living.
…Which is a much more affordable goal during the Super Saturday Weekend sale. Booths across the mall will have discounts of 10% to 30% this weekend, March 13 and 14, 2010. Last time I visited, I purchased a white linen sheet with a hand-cut lace and embroidery hem for a few bucks. Using the buttonhole function on my sewing machine I turned it into a cottage-y shower curtain for the bathroom. There was also a teal-colored three-legged footstool for $16 that *had* to be in my living room. With a little imagination, antiques can add character and functionality for a completely unique look–sometimes for even less than you’d pay at discount stores.
I recommend it with one qualification: Bring cash and set a spending limit. You’ll want to buy more than you know what to do with.
